What’s new and exciting on Hilton Head Island in 2021
It’s a new year, and there are some exciting, new things happening on Hilton Head Island!
The Lowcountry Celebration Park
First, have you heard about the awesome new park that’s now open near Coligny Beach?
Lowcountry Celebration Park opened December 2020. The new, 10-acre park off of Pope Avenue features an open pavilion and lawn for events and festivals, two fitness stations, restrooms, a perimeter walk, art sculptures and the park’s centerpiece: The Adventure Playground.
The playground features a giant, ship-themed play structure that’s designed after the ship Captain William Hilton was on when he discovered Hilton Head Island. The playground also includes The Discovery Trail, which explores all of the different environments you can find on the island with educational signs, plus a pond pavilion and boardwalk that goes over the lagoon.
Renovations coming to Harbour Town
In other news, big changes are coming to Sea Pines’ iconic Harbour Town this year. The Quarterdeck restaurant is about to undergo a complete renovation — with construction starting this spring.
The new restaurant will feature a rooftop oyster bar offering 270-degree views of the Harbour Town Yacht Basin and Calibogue Sound, complete with flexible glass walls that can fully open to bring the outside in, according to The Island Packet. The ground floor will house a new General Store — which will open facing the Harbour Town Pier — and include quick bites, ice cream and local seafood for purchase.
The new restaurant and General Store are set to open in Spring 2022.
New restaurants on Hilton Head
Do you like Mediterranean food? Casablanca Mediterranean Grill recently opened at 1012 William Hilton Pkwy. The new restaurant features authentic Mediterranean cuisine, prepared by Chef Hicham Elmadi, who was born and raised in Casablanca. The restaurant is currently offering curbside pickup and takeout, and also has outdoor seating. You can check out their menu here.
A second new restaurant is also set to open right outside of the Sea Pines front gate on February 1. Nectar Farm Kitchen, owned by SERG Restaurant group, will feature Southern cuisine made with locally sourced ingredients — grown on farms throughout the Lowcountry and the South. It’ll feature many Southern favorites with a twist, such as Sweet Potato Pancakes, Root Beer Braised Short Ribs and Blue Crab Mac, and Korean Fried Chicken & Waffles. The restaurant will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. Check out their Facebook page for more info.
